On Monday evening (April 27th) Peggy and I, chauffeured by my husband Paul, spent a delightful evening with members of the Alpha Sigma Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International for Key Women Educators and their guests. We were invited to be the keynote speakers at the group’s monthly meeting, held in the picturesque southern tier community of Franklinville, New York about 65 miles from Buffalo. Following a delicious meal and a gracious introduction by program chair Ginny Figura, Peggy and I given the floor to speak about our Uncrowned Queens Institute as well as our latest publication, “Go, Tell Michelle”. The audience of teachers, school librarians and counselors were eager to hear about the ten-year history of the Institute, our model of historical preservation and the educational programs we’ve established. They also wanted to know about the inspiration for “Go, Tell Michelle” and the development of the GTM Sisterhood Network.

As a sisterhood group they understand the ability of the collective to empower individual members as well as the group as a whole. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Alpha Sigma Chapter and especially to Ginny Figura, who had the foresight to contact us in August 2008 to set up this meeting, for the opportunity to share our message with this international group of educators.
