June 12, 2005 African American Ancestral Tour of Forest Lawn Cemetery

The Afro-American Historical Association, in collaboration with the Forest Lawn Group, will sponsor its second annual African American Ancestral Tour at the Cemetery.  This guided motor coach tour will feature historical information and re-enactments of several interesting and prominent African Americans whose final resting place is at Forest Lawn.  Several of the stops on the tour will be at the gravesites of Uncrowned Queens:  Mary B. Talbert, Amelia Grace Anderson, and Theresa G. Evans, for example.  Rev. Willie B. Seals also will be cited on the tour.  Rev. Seals, the father of Uncrowned Queens co-founder Barbara A. Seals Nevergold, was a prominent photographer in Buffalo for nearly fifty years. 

Sharon Holley and Dr. Nevergold will be the tour guides.

The Tour will begin at 3:00 p.m..  A $10.00 donation is requested.

Summer 2005 Rochester Uncrowned Queens Documentary in the Works

Peggy Brooks-Bertram and Barbara Seals Nevergold, Uncrowned Queens co-chairs, have been interviewed by RAALEN Entertainment for a documentary on the Uncrowned Queens of Rochester.  The Rochester-based company has also interviewed Dr. Juanita Pitts, Ruby Lockhart, and Ruth Anderson.  RAALEN Entertainment is planning to host a special preview of the documentary in early May.  A confirmed date is pending.
