November 23, 2003	Drs. Nevergold and Bertram attended the Lucky Number Luncheon hosted by Xi Epsilon Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. at the Golden Nugget. The authors signed copies of their books and also donated a two book packet to the sorority to auction off. The event included both live and silent auctions, the proceeds of which go to support the sorority's scholarships awarded to high school students. The Uncrowned Queens books brought in $27.00 which was contributed to the sorority's scholarship fund.

June 27, 2003	National Underground Railroad Family Reunion Festival
June 26, 2003	African American Perspectives on Death and Dying Dr. Karla Holloway took a cultural and historical look at bereavement, death, and burial among African Americans in the Twentieth Century. This event is sponsored by St. John Baptist Church, Rev. Michael Chapman, Pastor and The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care. Peggy Brooks-Bertram is the chair of the Hospice Committee for St. John Baptist Church.
June 7-8, 2003	WGRZ-TV Special Peggy Brooks-Bertram and Barbara A. Seals Nevergold were interviewed about the Uncrowned Queens Institute, its mission and future plans, and collaborations with other community organizations such as the Juneteenth Festival, Inc. The special was aired on Channel 2 -- WGRZ-TV in honor of Juneteenth.
June 6, 2003	YWCA Recognition The YWCA recognized Peggy Brooks-Bertram during the organization's Leadership Luncheon on June 6th for her community service contributions. The luncheon was held at the Buffalo Convention Center and attended by more than 900 individuals. A number of Uncrowned Queens were also recognized by the Y for their contributions in various areas of community service and cultural/artistic achievement.

May 7, 2003	Buffalo State College Presentation Uncrowned Queens made a presentation to the staff of the Weigel Health Center at Buffalo State College. Dr. Thresea R. Stephan Hains, is the director of the health center.

March 11, 2003	Uncrowned Queens on the Ted Kirkland Show Peggy Brooks-Bertram and Barbara Seals Nevergold hosted the Ted Kirkland call in radio program on WUFO. The entire hour was devoted to Uncrowned Queens.
March 8, 2003	Memorial AME Zion Church - Rochester, NY Dr. Peggy Brooks-Bertram and Barbara Seals Nevergold made a presentation during the Annual Harriet Tubman program hosted by Dr. Juanita Pitts.
February 27, 2003	Astronaut Mae C. Jemison Named Honorary Uncrowned Queen
February 27, 2003	Uncrowned Queens Host Russian Educators Videoconference links help visitors from Russia talk to Uncrowned Queens co-chairs and representatives from the University at Buffalo about issues affecting African American women.
February 26, 2003	Presentation of Scholarships to The Links, Inc. Tops Markets and Uncrowned Queens presented seven local chapters of The Links, Incorporated with scholarship money.
February 25, 2003	Key Bank Black History TV Program Uncrowned Queens co-founders, Peggy Brooks-Bertram and Barbara Seals Nevergold made a presentation during Key Bank's Black History Program.
February 24, 2003	Uncrowned Queens co-founders, Peggy Brooks-Bertram and Barbara Seals Nevergold were guests on the Mayor's radio talk show.

February 23, 2003	Xi Epsilon Omega Chapter Founder's Day Luncheon Authors Peggy Brooks-Bertram and Barbara Seals Nevergold were present for a book signing at the Marriott Hotel.

February 19, 2003	Campus West Black History Program Uncrowned Queens co-chairs Peggy Brooks-Bertram and Barbara Seals Nevergold went to Campus West School to help eight-graders celebrate Black History Month. The school program was organized by Uncrowned Queen Eva Doyle.
February 18, 2003	Niagara Falls Housing Authority Family Resource Center Uncrowned Queens presented an Uncrowned Queens certificate in memory of Doris Jones during the renaming of the center in her honor.

February 12, 2003	First Shiloh Baptist Church Barbara Seals Nevergold made a presentation on family history. She provided a brief primer on how to begin the search process and identified family history resources to utilize. She also talked about how to maintain family history records.
February 12, 2003	Phil Rumore of the Buffalo Teacher's Federation presented 75 copies of the book Uncrowned Queens: African American Women Community Builders of Western New York, Volume I to the Buffalo Schools. The presentation took place during the Board of Education Meeting on the 8th floor in City Hall. The book authors, Peggy Brooks-Bertram and Barbara Seals Nevergold were on hand to also present.
February 10, 2003	Black Soul: the Legacy Continues (WNLO, Channel 4's sister station) Black History month documentary with interviews featuring Peggy Brooks-Bertram and Barbara Seals Nevergold.

February 4, 2003	Live with Linda White In celebration of Black History Month Peggy Brooks-Bertram and Barbara Seals Nevergold were interviewed on this Channel 7 talk show that covers local stories of interest. Drs. Bertram and Nevergold discussed the UQ Institute and its ongoing work. In addition, they talked about their recent publication, Uncrowned Queens: African American Women Community Builders of Western New York, and the book's significance to local African American history.
