| June 29, 2008 | ![]() Sunday, June 29, 2008 (Buffalo, New York), The Uncrowned Queens Institute for Research and Education on Women, Inc., co-founded by Drs. Peggy Brooks-Bertram and Barbara Seals Nevergold will host the Uncrowned Queens in Their Hats: Back by Special Request reception at the University at Buffalo, Allen Hall Theatre on the South Campus. The program will take place at 3:00 p.m. and is the second in the Institute's Queens in Their Hats series. The program will feature the Institute's yearly Culture Keeper Award Presentation to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to preservation of African American history and culture. The keynote speaker is the Honorable Crystal D. Peoples and the Program Emcee is Claudine Ewing of Channel 2 Television. A reception will follow. The celebration is the first in a series of community wide programs leading up to the Institute's ten year celebration of the Uncrowned Queens model of research, collection, preservation and dissemination of the regional histories of African American men and women. |

| February 27, 2008 | UQ co-founders will be luncheon speakers at the Erie County Department of Social Services Black History Program, Emerson Restaurant, 12 noon. |
| February 28, 2008 | Dr. Nevergold will speak on Buffalo's Black History, City of Buffalo Black History Program, City Hall, 12 noon. |
| February 29, 2008 | UQ co-founders will be luncheon speakers at the Erie County Department of Social Services Black History Program, Emerson Restaurant, 12 noon. |
| February 29, 2008 | UQ co-founders along with Dr. Wesley L. Hicks will be honored at 'A Black Tie for Black History Extravaganza', produced by AM 1400, Solid Gold Soul, and sponsored by LP Ciminelli and Continental School of Beauty Culture. $20.00 per person; net proceeds benefit Juneteenth Festival, Inc., The Stillwater Restaurant, 483 Delaware Avenue, 7pm. |
| March 13, 2008 | Presentations by UQ co-founders, Drs. Bertram and Nevergold at St. John Fisher College. Dr. Bertram will present on Drusilla Dunjee Houston, 1:45pm; and Dr. Bertram and Nevergold will present on the Uncrowned Community Builders, 6:15pm. |
