BIOGRAPHY: Carol
M. Salter
Carol M. Salter is a native Buffalonian and the
third of seven children. Educated in the Buffalo Public School system, Carol is
currently attending Erie Community College majoring in Criminal Justice (working
to obtain a law degree). Recently accepted into the International Honor Society The Phi Theta Kappa for academic excellence.
2002 graduate of the 6
th class of the FBI's Citizens Academy. A 1998 graduated from the CEO Program of Canisius College, also a 1969
graduate of the University of Buffalo's Mid-Careers for Women & Leadership
Development.
Carol worked for Tops Super Market in Central
Park Plaza for 15 years as a cashier, then Head Cashier promoted to Front End Manager until 1986. Carol and her
husband, the late Aaron Salter Sr., opened and operated AC Laundry & Dry
Cleaners located at 379 Genesee Street for 12 years, closing their business in
1998. In January of 1999 Carol joined the WUFO family as an on-air personality
and Assistant Promotions Manager, adding Office Manager to her responsibilities
after three months. In January of 2000 Carol was promoted to her present
position as Operations Manager of WUFO Radio.
In 1981, Carol became a member of the Cold Spring
Bible Chapel where she was a Sunday school teacher for 15 years. Carol is
presently an active member of Zion Dominion Church of God in Christ where the
Pastor is R.L. Hennings.
In 1996 and 1997
Carol was president of The Greater East Side Business Association.
Carol was a member of the New York State Economic
Development Zone Administrative Board. She was also a member of the Urban
Community Service Council for the Center for Entrepreneurship at Canisius
College.
In 2001, Carol received The Black Achievers in
Industry Award. She is also the
recipient of The Southern Christian Leadership Community Activist Award (2002).
She is well known in
the Buffalo area for her poetry recitations.
Carol
is the mother of two children, Cashell and Aaron Jr., grandmother of six, and
the great-grandmother of one.
