
BIOGRAPHY: Juanita Johnson

Juanita Johnson is a graduate of Oklahoma Baptist University, where she received her bachelor’s degree. She earned her master’s degree from the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center. Dr. Johnson has a number of “firsts” in her life. She was the first Black faculty member at Oklahoma Baptist University and the first Black instructor at Gordon Cooper Technology Center. Dr. Johnson also helped to integrate several businesses in Shawnee. She was also a staff education instructor and flex nurse in the general surgery department at St. Anthony Hospital.
When Oklahoma City experienced the horror of the massive explosion at the Alfred Murrah Federal Building, Dr. Johnson accompanied, with another staff member, five nursing students to Oklahoma City to assist in providing medical treatment to victims of that disaster. Dr. Johnson is an assistant professor of nursing at Oklahoma Baptist University.
