Multicultural Resources for Advisement
The importance of multicultural literacy in advisement is increasing as American postsecondary education becomes more culturally diverse. This site provides resources for advisors and academic administrators interested in cross-cultural interaction as related to advisement.

The purpose of the commission is to address the issues relative to advising people of color and under-represented students and how those issues impact their success in college. Anyone who is interested in the success of these student groups or who has ideas regarding how we can work collaboratively to assist under-represented students is welcome.

As an ACE presidential commission, this body is charged with the responsibility of advising the Council and its Center for Advancement of Racial and Ethnic Equity (CAREE) on various issues related to diversity in higher education. As a group, the Commission contributes to programs and activities coordinated by CAREE and provides leadership in four broadly defined CAREE program goals.

ACE established the Center for Advancement of Racial and Ethnic Equity (CAREE) in 1981 to address declining rates of minority participation in higher education. Originally called the Office of Minority Concerns, CAREE (pronounced "care") has monitored and reported on the progress of African Americans, Latinos, Asian Americans, and American Indians in postsecondary education, and engaged in efforts to improve their educational and employment opportunities in higher education.

AASCU institutions enroll nearly 3.5 million students, representing more than half of all students enrolled in the nation's public four-year institutions.
