Psi Chi Position Descriptions (2005-06 Academic Year)


·  Every officer is responsible for receiving a thorough orientation from his or her predecessor, ensuring that his or her predecessor turns over all necessary chapter materials, and giving a thorough orientation to his or her successor.

President

  • Chapter leadership;
  • Confirm with faculty advisor and outgoing officers that all accounts from academic year are cleared and all reports have been submitted to National Office;
  • Initiate projects, programs, and activities;
  • Synthesize opinions and ideas of officers and members to lead organization in a fair and responsible manner;
  • Call regular meetings and preside at meetings;
  • Oversee and keep list of objectives with dates and deadlines;
  • Get members involved through activities and committees;
  • Keep in close contact with faculty advisor and officers;
  • Keep Chapter website up-to-date, or delegate that duty;
  • Be available to community; hold regular weekly office hours.

Vice President

  • Chapter leadership;
  • Perform duties of President in absence of President;
  • Serve as Chair of Programming;
  • Work closely with President to initiate projects, programs, and activities;
  • Maintain information about obtaining facilities and reserving rooms
  • Keep in close contact with faculty advisor and officers;
  • Hold regular weekly office hours.
  • Help with advertisement of events and recruitment of members

Treasurer

  • Maintain working budget by collecting all fees and dues, and paying all bills promptly;
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date financial records;
  • Make regular and frequent updates on financial matters to senior officers;
  • Hold regular office hours.

Secretary

  • Record minutes at each meeting;
  • Maintain copies of minutes, attendance records, records and reports of programs and activities, and all other forms for operating the chapter; all minutes, records, and reports should be available on disk, on the Web or through e-mail;
  • Ensure that all appropriate application/registration materials are completed and sent with fees to National Office;
  • Hold regular weekly office hours.

Membership Director

  • Promote awareness of Psi Chi;
  • Organize membership drives;
  • Plan induction ceremonies (with the other officers);
  • Maintain list of all Chapter members and member information; this should be kept on disk or the Web;
  • Assist prospective members in determining their eligibility for induction;
  • Hold regular weekly office hours.

Community Service Chair

  • Organize and plan at least one community service event per semester
  • Find out what kind of volunteer activities members are interested in
  • Work closely with the president on all matters regarding service and the community
  • Hold regular office hours

Advertising Coordinator

  • Promote awareness of Psi Chi;
  • Publicize all events and meetings in a timely manner by posting flyers, sending electronic mail, updating Psi Chi Bullentin board and displays, and through various other means;
  • Establish and maintain good relations with campus media;
  • Work with Membership Director in preparing induction ceremonies;
  • Encourage and arrange Eye on Psi Chi submissions;
  • Hold regular weekly office hours.

Alumni Chair

  • Serve as liaison with area and chapter alumni;
  • Establish and maintain mailing list of chapter alumni;
  • Use mailing list to keep alumni informed of chapter activities;
  • Incorporate alumni into current chapter programs as speakers, workshop leaders, etc.;
  • Send copies of alumni records to National Office.
