Minutes: 9/30/99

-There is a GRASP today in Kimball Hall at 3:30pm, for Human Sexuality
Research.
- Aidswalk was on Sunday, September 26. We raised over $550! Thank you
to all who walked and raised money.
- Coming Out Day is still in planning. We need to think of ideas to do
something more than drag. The possiblity of a gay history presentation was
discussed. Also, decorations will be handled by Cindy. Please contact
her if you would like to help or have ideas.
- Amateur Drag show is on October 12, 1999. If you would like to appear
in this year's show, you must get an application from Michele. Th
possiblity of a bake sale was discussed, to raise money for LGBA.
A set-up committee was established to be there around 5pm to help with the
set-up and decorations. These are Amy, Olive, Ilana and Kathryn. If you
would like to help out as well, contact Michele.
- There will be a Flyering party on Tuesday, October 5th at 7pm.. Free
Pizza and drinks (non-alcoholic, of course) will be provided AFTER we
flier!
- Conference updates:
.....we are going to incorporate Fiesta into our conference, since there
is no way we can get around the fact that there will be 3,000 people with
the 28 international clubs having a big huge party in the middle of our
registration. The Van situation and space situation appear to be taken
care of.
....the dates of the conference are now set in stone as April 14-16. Any
bumps along the way because of these dates will just have to be worked
out.
....the next Conference Committee meeting will be October 8th at 6pm. If
you would like any more info. about any of the things we discussed or have
input, please come to the Conference Committee meeting!
- GLYS Night will be Monday, October 4th at 6pm. Please contact Michele
if yu would like to be involved.
- Take Back the Night. Does anyone at all have any ideas????
- Indian SA will be presenting the controversial film "Fire". The date is
as of yet unknown.
- Voter registration forms were given to us by the Democratic student
organization, whose name I have forgotten. If you're not registered,
please stop by the office to pick one up and get registered!
- Patricia Barber is performing at the Tralf on October 5th.
- Applications for appointed positions are due by October 8th at 5pm, NO
EXCEPTIONS!
- Spirit Week is next week.... Lisa talked about what each event is, and
people signed up to do each event. If you're interested at all in Spirit
week, contact Lisa.
- We discussed giving our Coming Out Day drag queen flier to David Del
Bello from Spectrum, since he so generously gave us the nice slogan that
adorns them. We voted unanimously that yes, he should get one.
- On October 18th and 20th, there will be domestic violence tabling. I
think it's important to have a gay representation there to show that it
hapens in ALL relationships. I need someone to help out with this since
the times of the tabling are right through my classes. (11am - 2pm)
So, as far as I can remember, that's at we talked about.
