Meeting Minutes

Minutes: 9/1/99

Presenting Your 9/1/99 LGBA Minutes, Courtesy Of Your Friendly Office Manager, Michele!

-Nominations have been made, and here they are...

Presidential Nominees- Liz Holland
Vice-Presidential Nominees- John Hale and Christian DiCanio
Secretarial Nominees- Joshua Hilliard

and for those of you who don't know, Lisa Milano is our Treasurer, who was elected at the end of last semester.

If you are interested in running for one of the three existing positions open, please come to the next meeting--Wednesday the 8th @ noon. Elections will be held the following week Wednesday at noon. There are specific requirements for officer eligibility, so check out our constitution--I THINK this is the URL-- http://wings.buffalo.edu/sa/lgba/constitution.html if you have any questions. There are also two appointed positions which are to be decided upon as well once officers have been elected...Office Manager and Special Projects Coordinator. Again, bring this up at the next meeting if you are interested.

In order to be a voting member you have to have attended the previous three meetings before elections...

-Olive is now in charge of GRASP(Gender Roles and Sexuality Program); there is one scheduled for a Thursday this month, check the calendar in the office for details, and talk to Olive if you'd like to be involved.

-Charlotte Young, a representative from the Human Rights Campaign, is interested in meeting with LGBA [exactly WHO from LGBA is as of yet undetermined, but I'm sure it's going to be open to anyone interested]; more info on her and what she'd like to discuss with us and when will be available at next week's meeting.

-COSG, LGBA's Coming Out Support Group, is going to be held in the office [362 S.U.] every Monday at 5pm (by Peter, bruschi@acsu.buffalo.edu), and every Thursday at 7pm by moi. It is open to anyone and everyone and is generally a discussion group revolving around Coming Out issues, but often other topics relative to the LGBT community. Come to one or both; the first one will be a week from today, Sept. 9th@7pm.

-Lisa brought up the idea of getting LGBA t-shirts made; if you have any interest in bringing this project to life, talk to her, and bring your own ideas as well.

-Flyer-ing for LGBA still needs to be done; if anyone is interested in helping out please let us know; right now the list of people interested includes: Tess, Heidi, Kathryn, Lisa, and Jeremy.

-Sometime after new officers are elected and we can arrange a time, revising the constitution seems like a good idea. anyone is welcome to help out; again, let us know--the current list of people is Olive, Melissa, Liz, Peter, John, and Christian.

well, I do believe that's all...reminder that there is a potluck at Liz and Olive's this Saturday at 7pm....hope to see you all there with bells on, whether you are a new or returning member--it's a great way to catch up and/or meet new people. E-mail Liz (ech@acsu.buffalo.edu) for more info, or Olive at oed@acsu.buffalo.edu.

I do believe there is also an informal gathering of people at Marcella's this Sunday for the Black Party..if you need a ride and you live on campus, let me know--882-1944.

well, thanks for listening, sorry it's late, and if you've anything to add, feel free....
