Minutes: 4/7/99
As told by LGBA Secretary, Liz Holland

- On April 22nd, there is a Leadership Panel taking place in the Wilkeson Locked Lounge. They would like a representative from LGBA to field questions, however there is a ton of other stuff going on that day... a GRASP, COSG, and Amy's Concert. However, if you're not interested in any of those things, and would like to attend for us, let Jill know!

- GRASP will also be presented on April 18th (Sunday) for the South Campus in Goodyear 10. Please attend if you can! BTW, for all those who are like "what the hell is GRASP anyhow?" go look at the website, in the pulldown menu on the first page under "GRASP"

- On Saturday 17th, we need people to help work a table for Open House... this is very important for incoming freshman to see that we do have a strong lgbt representation on campus, and it will also help attract new members. The times are 11am-2:30pm. Please let Jill konw ASAP if you can!

- Sean Sasser (Pedro Zamora's partner from Real World 3 in S.F., also he is a speaker for the HRC) is speaking on April 14th with AIDS coalition. They need volunteers, and also, Jill has reserved a block of tickets for us. I believe there are 5 left. Put your name on the board if you would like to go!

- The E-Board will be going to an Awards dinner on Monday, and we were strongly advised to be there, so use your brain on that one.

- We have two more tables in the Union for Gaypril after tommorrow.... think of something fun we can do to attract attention to ourselves!

- Start thinking about what you want to happen at National Coming Out Day and the Conference for next year... we need to start reserving these things now. (esp. for the conference, we should pick dates soon so we don't have to truck over to awful O'Brian 104 again)

- After all was said and done, and the last few bills that still need to be paid from our budget, we will actually have a surplus of over $1000. (thanks to NAPA, PODER, and ad sales) SO, we are going to buy some things, etc....

****FELL FREE TO SPARK DEBATE ON THE LISTSERV ABOUT THE FOLLOWING THINGS....

**Summer LGBA Budget: There will be a lot of LGBA people still around in Buffalo, taking classes or not, so the office will stay open for limited hours, but this also gives us an opportunity to continue working with GLYS, the annual Buffalo Pride Parade, and be around for Orientation, which I don't think LGBA has really done in the past. This would of course, require a budget.
**Couch: self explanatory... that grey thing is a health hazard, has mysterious stains, and is over a decade old. It's time for a new one, since we spend so much time in the office.
**Paint the Walls: They're gross. Look behind the desk and under the message board. No we can't paint ourselves since it's a Union job, however, this will be hardly any cost, so I don't even think it requires debate, IMHO. note on this since, it will cost $600-$700 to paint the office, so nevermind!! Just be more careful with the walls!!
**Lock on the library: Over the past few years, over 60 books and 20 videos have walked away. We hate to do it, but it needs to be done. I know how much all of you have taken a liking to breaking open the lock, but that can't happen anymore. All officers will have keys and you will need to see one of them to get into the library. This also will be at most $30 and doesn't require much debate.
**Library: We need more books and videos! Pretty self-explanatory. Since so many have walked away, we need to replenish it. See Michele if you have any particular requests.
**Buttons and Bumperstickers: If you would like to see more bumperstickers and buttons to sell in the office, esp. after the closing of Rainbow Pride, speak up!
**Co-Sponsorships: they scratch our back, we scratch theirs. It's nice to make friends within SA so the next time we need help, we'll know who to go to. IMHO, however, I feel this can wait until next semester since there really aren't any big SA club events that other clubs would need help in, and since we did fundraise such a large portion for the conference, it would be nice to spend the money on ourselves and make the office look nice again. That, however, is just my 2cents, and you can take it how you wish.

-Nominations took place today, and the following nominations were made and accepted....

-Liz Holland for President has since been withdrawn
-Amy Sorrention for Vice President
-John Hale for Vice President
-Lisa Milano for Treasurer
-Jen Mages for Treasurer
-Olive Demetrius for Secretary
-Melissa Rada for Secretary

Special Projects Coordinator and Office Manager are appointed positions, and you can not run for them. SPC is appointed by the Vice Prez. and Office Manager by the Secretary, so after elections, see those people if you would like to be SPC or OM. If you would like to run for office, you must be a matriculated undergrad at UB, and be an LGBA member. (attended at least 3 meetings) Look in the office for the list of voting members, which makes you eligible to run, and vote. (duh)

Nominations will also be accepted at next week's meeting, and the vote is Wednesday, April 21.
