Fall 2002 Meeting #11
~Meeting began at 8:09pm in 362 Student Union~
-The Meeting Minutes for meeting #10 were approved.
-Our ThanksGiving pot luck dinner will be held on Thursday, November 21 at 7pm in the Red Jacket locked lounge.
-Our Winter recess party will probably be held during the first week of December, possibly in 210 Student Union. More information to come.
-The response level for having an LGBTA talent show died down, and we will bring it up next semester if we decide to proceed with it at all.
-Our new SISH club representative is Shaun.
-Our current rank within all the SISH clubs is 3rd out of 45 clubs.
-Thank you to all who helped with the Out, Loud, and Proud speakers series - it was successful, albeit a little bit expensive.
-We need to do a lot of fundraising in the near future. As it has been done in the past, and since we've already received permission, we plan to table outside various clubs and/or bars in Buffalo. We will probably go to Club Marcella first. If you would like to help with this, contact an E-board member.
We will also probably try to get some donations from various banks in the area.
-A "real" suggestion box has been put in the office.
-The LGBTA will be joining with the UB Law school gay group, OUTLAW, to hold a banquet in the future.
-We did not participate in the SA food and clothing drive recently so we want to participate heavily in the current SA Toys for Tots toy drive. We need to participate in this drive as much as possible. The toys must be in good condition, and if its the sort of thing that comes in a package, it must be in its original packaging. Stuffed animals and such are also acceptable. The club who brings in the most items will receive $500. Second place is $100, and third is $50.
-Recently, there have been some issues with certain things that have been written on the member message board in the office - Please note that this board is meant only for positive messages to other members of the club. Insults, written gossip, and other such things should not be put up, and will be erased if they are found.
-In addition to our fundraising issues, we also need to do some community service work soon.
-Currently, there is a Hearts for Holidays drive going on where people are making holiday greeting cards for children at Children's and Roswell Hospitals. We can use this as a community service event, so please contact an E-board member for more information if you are interested, or just start making cards.
-LASA, the Latin American Student Association is currently having a raffle for a DVD player. If you are interested in purchasing a ticket for $1, ask Rachel.
-We're not sure if we will have ManSex and Sirens next semester.
-Next semester, after the business portion of our general meetings, we will likely have informative segments with specific topics like "Gays in the Holocaust."
-On a somewhat related note, we held a GRASP meeting immediately following the business portion of our meeting.
