Minutes: 11/11/99

Hi you guys, it's me, ilana. i took minutes this week so here they
are...uncut....
1. Student Vote '99 is Nov 16th and 17th so get out there and let everyone
know your big gay opinions.
2. The Supreme Court is currently deciding whether or not to continue with
mandatory student fees or not. These fees are a part of tuition and support
clubs such as ours along with MANY others. Ending them will not only likely
end many SA clubs but supports racism and bigotry...but thats just one
opinion...
3. The SA GALA is December 10th. It is a big party and should be loads of
fun. The cost is $20 per person.
4. COME TO GLAM SLAM ON SUNDAY NOVEMBER 14th AND BRING EVERYONE YOU KNOW
5. There will be a flyering party on Tuesday Nov. 16th at 7 PM. We will
try to supply some munchies but no promises. (as if the promise of flyering
isn't enough)....please come....please...
6. On Thursday, Nov 12th we had our meeting with ACS. There weren't too
many of us there but it was still pretty fun. The boys and girls separated
and talked about sex for a few hours...not so different from normal office
behavior...however, ACS will be incorporating some of our brainstorming
ideas for a workshop series next semester.

8. The thrift sale is December 3rd. Many people said that when they go home
for thanksgiving they will bring back tons of old clothes for the sale.
Please don't forget. I wanna see some cavariches and leg warmers damn it!
Just bring it to the office. Hopefully there will be a bin there to dump
your stuff in.
9. Movie night is this Monday at 7. I'm not sure what I'm gonna get yet but
it'll be really really good.
10. Contact Troy if you are still interested in going to the Sabres game.

12. On November 10th there was a meeting in the union with PFlag, Elaine
Maccio from GLYS and soem lgba people( i think Kathryn, Lisa, Kim) and some
other people I don't know. It was called "What to do if someone you know is
gay". There was lots of fun banter and the PFlag parents were adorable.
13. There are still 5 seats left for the vans for Millenium March next
April so sign up if you are interested. We may go with GLYS too.
14. Liz and I met with Norman Bonk from Empire State Pride Agenda where we
talked about fundraising for the conference and other events but he brought
up that all the organizations in Buffalo should get together and march at
the Millenium March. I thought that was a pretty cool idea. That along with
some promising lgba t-shirts and a wonderful new banner which is in the very
near future i'm sure!

hey one more thing i forgot. Dec. 1st is WORLD AIDS DAY. we were talking
about what we want to do. ideas brought up were a timeline of events and
how it has affected gay people, or we could have a big display (pictures) of
gay people that have died of AIDS, or a candle lighting thing or whatever
else. we will have a table set up in the union. we want to do something
with the AIDS coalition too. any ideas are welcome.
