LGBTA Meeting Minutes for Thursday, October 24, 2002
Fall 2002 Meeting #9
~Meeting began at 8:05pm in 362 Student Union~
-The Meeting Minutes for meeting 8 has been approved.
-Thank you to all who helped with and participated in the Student Association Spirit Week. Our club came in 3rd out of 180 clubs, so we did quite well. We have a trophy for third place in the office.
-SISH club competitions are coming up soon. More details on this to come.
-Instead of our usual general meeting on Thursdays, on Thursday, October 31 (Halloween), we will be having a Halloween party in our office. Come in costume if you can, it'll be fun.
-For one of our community service events for SA, we will be taking donations for charity soon. More details to come on this.
-We submitted a finance proposal to the SA Senate recently for $5,000.00. We received $2,000.00.
-We still need ushers for our Out, Loud, and Proud speakers series for November 12 (we will be charged for supplied ones if members do not volunteer). Remember, ushers get in free.
-Thank you to everyone who participated in the SA, CAC, LGBTA Date Auction for spirit week. We made around $700.00 to donate to the American Lung Association.
-On October 30 and 31, judges and other people related to the SA: Haunted Union event will be coming around from office to office to take a look at the various decorations and such. Since we are participating in this event, if you are worried about being out to people in such a situation, you probably won't want to come to the office for these days.
-The office will undergo rearrangements, partly for efficiency, and partly to raise the confidentiality level of members while in the office.
-Due to ongoing problems with the cleanliness of the office and food being left around, we ask everyone again, to be sure to clean up after yourself whenever you do anything messy in the office (especially eating). If the situation does not correct itself, no eating will be allowed in the office.
-The food that is usually in bags or bundled into a corner is meant for ManSex and Sirens. Please do not use it for other things.
-Our Thanksgiving Potluck dinner will take place on the Thursday before Thanksgiving break. We are trying to get a room downstairs to host this event in. There will be no cooking equipment available wherever we get a room however, so please make sure that your food is ready before you come.
-We may be getting Ember Swift for the concert portion of our Out, Loud, and Proud series.
