The weekly COSG meeting has been canceled for next week, so that members will be able to attend. If anyone has a pressing problem please seek out an e board member for support.7:08 Community Service -Our organization, as well as all SA Clubs must complete 3 community service projects per semester. -The e board would like to know what members think of the following upcoming options for community service: -Hearts For the Holidays- making non-dominationial holiday cards that will be delivered to children in Buffalo Hospitals. The e board was considering have a couple hours set away for card making, and then leaving the materials around in the office for anyone who wouldn’t be able to attend. -The club that turns in the most cards wins a prize; ultimately we are only concerned with earning service points. -Food and Clothing Drive- collection of food and clothing for donation is already underway. There is a big box in the office, please feel free to clean out any cupboards or closets of things that you don’t think you’re going to use. The e board will also take money donations from people if they would like us to go purchase items on their behalf. -For this to count as Community service we must collect 10lbs of Clothes or 20lbs of food. -Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF- they’re two collection boxes on the desk, please feel free to bring in spare change, these donations go to fight starvation around the world. There is no limit on how much you have to collect, but I would be nice to actually have a decent amount of change in the boxes. -Woman’s Center Dress Drive- this is the second annual prom dress drive. You may help out by bringing in your old prom dresses for donation to under-privileged women that can’t afford to buy a prom dress.7:16 Fundraising -Follow up on the candy sale that was proposed last week. At BJ’s they have bags of 100 suckers for $6.50. If we would like to attach gay facts to them we will need some assistance from members in collecting, and then putting them together. Those interested please stay posted.7:19 We received a very polite and well written letter from a prisoner in Attica. The e-board has decided that the organization will correspond with the individual, as long as communication remains respectful, and appropriate.7:20 Pot Luck Dinner -Discussed in brief at the last meeting, we are looking to host a pot luck dinner before Thanksgiving break. We are trying to see if we can get a room for Thursday November 20th. This date is still very much not final, but we would like to give members an idea. -The club will be purchasing the turkey. Please feel free to bring your favorite holiday dish or to share with us your family’s best recipe. -This will hopefully be an event with other schools, so just a reminder that if anyone has contacts at other schools, please feel free to spread the word, the more people that come the better.7:21 Queer Art Show -The show opens tomorrow, Friday October 24, and will run through next week. The club is co-hosting the event, and we would like to encourage everyone to go and check out the show.
