Meeting MinutesOctober 2, 2003 Meeting Start Time: 7:00 7:00Coming Out Week -We hope that everyone knows what is going on for the week, if not please check out the flyers available in the office. -There is a sign up sheet in the office for our table that will be set up during the events on Wednesday. Please fill it out so that we can be sure that it will be covered for the entire time. Those working during show time will be allowed to watch the show -We know that people have been working on the slid show, those people and anyone else interested need to speak with Rachel after the meeting so that you can work out a time to work on it this weekend. -People that want to help set up: Monday we don't have the room until 7:30 because LASA is showing a movie, if you can help please meet in the office around 7-7:15 so that we don't bug them. -We will need people to help with lighting during the show, no prior experience is required just someone willing to do it. -Wednesday set up will be early. We are going to meet around 8:30 in the union, need to set up tables, and do the rainbow arch. 7:06Spirit Week -Spirit week will be the week following Coming out Week. There are a ton of events that we can sign up, that can gain the organization some participation points. -Some events even get us a part of their proceeds. -There will be a sign up sheets around the office please sign up for things that sound interested and that you will be able to do so that we can see what people are interested in doing. 7:12Queer Art Show -Liz Holland stopped by to let everyone know about the Queer Art show that will be opening on Friday October 24th. -People that are interested should get in contact with Liz; see an e-board member for her information. No prior experience is needed, and the show is open to all art forms including performance art, that is done by queer artists. -The deadline for all pieces to be in the show will run through the day of the event, the space will be available three days prior to the event for any installation that will need to take place. -Liz would like to have some idea of what you will be submitting just to allow a space to be made for whatever you may have to present. -There show is also hoping to have some drag performers in a glass window for opening night; anyone interested in helping with that should also get in touch with Liz. 7:15Community Service -The voter registration drive is on going. We currently have 10 forms filled out; however, we need to have 35 in order to gain credit as a community service. The forms are due on October 7th. Anyone needed an absentee ballot, or who has an address change please fill out a form for us. -CAC is having their Night Out on Friday October 3rd anyone interested should feel welcome to show up. Be sure to wear warm clothes, it will be very cold. 7:19Other Upcoming Events -Y Tu Mama Tambien is being shown by LASA on Saturday October 4th -The Career Development Center is having a seminar on Monday October 6th. -There is a Haitian Night on October 4th, if interested see the flyer in the office. -Hillel of Buffalo would like to extend an invitation to a $5 meal on Fridays after their weekly services around 7 pm, you can feel free to come just for dinner that is total Kosher, and a welcome practice. -The BUA will be opening a new Show Looking for Normal, please refer to the email that was sent out to the list serve for further details. -The second annual Pagan SA Psychic Fair will be taking place tomorrow October 3rd. 7:23 ` -Minutes from last week passed around. Approved at 7:38pm. 7:24March on Washington -On Saturday October 25th buses will be departing for a trip to protest the continuation of the war in Iraq. See Matt Schwartz if you were interested, or have any questions. 7:26Floor Opened for Questions/Comments -Expect some opposition on through out coming out week, particularly on Wednesday, nothing is suspected yet it is possible. -SA Entertainment pulled their ad in our program, however this is a financial decision and not one that is based on any personal sentiments, so please don't take offense for this on behalf of the organization. Marcella's has taken the rear cover spot, so the problem has been addressed. -Discussion of remaining questions on Coming Out Week. 7:38The Woman's Support Group -There will be a Woman's discussion/support group open to all females that would like to attend. It will be meeting on Mondays at 7pm in the office. 7:40Confidentiality -Just a reminder, confidentiality is something that must be respected by all people coming up to the office. While most of our members are out and loud, this not true of everyone, therefore, everyone must be careful what they say to people outside of the office.
