We cleaned up along Ellicott Creek by helping pick up debris and trash.

Habitat for Humanity - Saturday, April 7

Golden Key members helped with the demolition of a house through Habitat for Humanity, a national nonprofit organization. To see pictures of the event, go to the Photo Gallery.

Careerfest Luncheon - Wednesday, March 7

The University at Buffalo Chapter of Golden Key co-hosted, with UB Career Services, an Employer Appreciation Luncheon. Current Golden Key members and recent alumni were invited to attend this special occasion. Attendees dined with over 175 company representatives from around the country as well as deans from several graduate colleges here at UB and a prestigious keynote speaker, in the Center for the Arts. It was exclusive to Golden Key members and a great networking tool as well as a free catered and serviced meal! Employers received a book of resumes from Golden Key members who attended and choose to submit a resume.

Prep Session for Careerfest Luncheon - Tuesday, February 27

A Prep Session for those attending the Careerfest Luncheon was held to give tips on networking, conversation, etiquette, professional dress, self-presentation, and an overview of the luncheon program. A representative from Career Services gave tips on how to carry on professional conversations AND make a great impression!

St. Vincent DePaul - Saturday, February 3

We had a service event February 3rd with St. Vincent DePaul. This event was from 9am to 12:30pm, and we worked in the soup kitchen.

General Meeting - Tuesday, January 30

Aside from discussing upcoming events, a representative from Career Services was at the meeting and gave a short presentation on tips for writing resumes. In addition, we discussed a luncheon that we will be having with all of the representatives that will be attending Careerfest in March and ONLY GK members can attend. These representatives will also receive a book of everyone's resume that registers for the luncheon.

Journey's End Refugee Services

GK is collaborating throughout the semester with Journey's End Refugee Services to provide ESL (English as a Second Language) tutors. There was a background check required and a once-a-week committment for about 1-1.5 hours.

There was an orientation on Saturday, January 27th that all new volunteers had to attend.

Book Drive - December 6-19

We ran a book drive on campus to benefit literacy efforts in the United States. Each book donated benefitted the National Center for Family Literacy, an organization changing lives by providing literacy materials and training to 6,000 programs across the U.S. Learn more about Better World Books at http://www.betterworldbooks.com/.

Movie/Potluck Night - Saturday, November 18

We had a social event in the Hadley Village Community Building from 7-10pm. This was a movie/potluck night so everyone brought a snack to share and relaxed and socialized with other GK members.

St. Luke's Mission of Mercy - Saturday, November 18

We volunteered at St. Luke's Mission of Mercy from 10am-2pm by helping to pack Thankgiving bags for families. Donations of Toilet Paper or toiletries were welcome. To see pictures of the event, go to the Photo Gallery.

General Meeting - Thursday, November 16

The meeting was held in 218 NSC and began at 4:30pm. Kaplan was there to speak about their services, give out information about their courses and applying to grad school and members had a chance to enter and win a FREE COURSE with Kaplan. We also discussed events planned for the remainder of the semester as well as next semester.

Induction Ceremony - Sunday, November 5

Our annual Induction Ceremony for new members was held in Lippes Concert Hall in Slee Hall at 2pm. To see pictures of the event, go to the Photo Gallery.

Toiletry Drive - Month of October

We held a toiletry drive to benefit St. Luke's Mission of Mercy here in Buffalo. We collected toilet paper and toiletries, including toothpaste and tooth brushes, soap, lotion, deodorant, shampoo and conditioner, hair brushes, etc.

Make A Difference Day - Saturday, October 28

We cooked dinner for families staying at the Ronald McDonald House.

General Meeting - Wednesday, October 4

We held our first general meeting of the semester in NSC 201 at 5:30pm. This meeting was geared mostly toward prospective members so that we could answer their questions about Golden Key, but current members were encouraged to attend as well because we explained our plans for this year.

Information Table - Thursday, September 28

In the Student Union Lobby from 11am-2pm, current Golden Key members staffed a table to answer any prospective members' questions about Golden Key.

Buffalo Niagara Riverkeepers: Autumn Beach Sweep - Saturday, September 16

We cleaned up trash along the UB North Campus bike path. The event lasted from 9am until 12:30pm. There was also a free barbeque (4-8pm) for those who volunteered at Veteran's Park in Tonawanda. To see pictures of the event, go to the Photo Gallery.
