No experience is necessary to join; we will teach you the basics right from the get go. We compete in three different levels, novice, lightweight and heavyweight so no one will be racing in events where they are disadvantaged. Sign up and see how you like it! Lightweight - To row in the lightweight category, an oarsman must adhere to certain rules. During the fall season, a lightweight can have a maximum weight of 165 lbs with a boat average of 160 lbs. In the spring season, a lightweight can have a max weight of 160 lbs with a boat average of 155 lbs.
Heavyweight - A heavyweight oarsman is any oarsman that exceeds the lightweight limitations. Anyone that is 165 lbs or higher in the fall, or over 160 lbs in the spring are considered to be heavyweight oarsmen.
Coxswain - The minimum weight for a coxswain is 120 lbs. Coxswains can weigh more or less than that, but may have to carry a sand bag with them to makeup the difference in weight if they are under weight.
