We are here to join together those who like playing chess and those who want to learn how to play this incredible, ancient game. Our club provides those of you with interest in chess with opponents and a place to play and share your knowledge and interests in chess and otherwise. We also work to promote interest of chess on campus, increase the prestige of UB among other schools, and provide an organizational facility for students.
Everything you need to know about our club can be found here. You will also
find additional chess related information, links, news, and more. If something
is missing from this site or if you have any questions or suggestions be sure
to
drop us a line.

There will be NO more meetings this spring and if anyone
of you are interested playing chess this summer. E-mail to
fcman@acsu.buffalo.edu for details.
You are encouraged to bring your own equipment if you have it. We have a limited amount of equipment available for use and we will order more if need arises. We are also considering purchasing equipment in quantity and offering it to club members at a discount. If you would be interested in purchasing chess equipment at a discount, please let us know. We can only do this if enough people are interested.
Sometime during the semester we will try to create and post here a list of the activities that will be conducted at the meetings. We are hoping to setup regular tournaments, learning sessions, and other activities for this semester. See our goals section for more information. Until we have a regular plan will be discussing possible activities to conduct, deciding club's direction, but most of all, we will of course be playing chess!
Our primary goal is to promote awareness and interest in chess on campus and to allow those interested in the game to meet other players and play chess. In the past we setup and participated in a variety of tournaments, within the club, with other schools, with general chess community, and even worldwide over the internet. At the club we play all kinds of chess including speed chess, bughouse, Chinese chess... We are always open to new ideas and suggestions and are happy to support any and all chess related ideas. In the future we are hoping to add training sessions, lectures, regular tournaments of all kinds, and much more. Of course, no matter what happens, we will always find time for plain old chess games!
You can! Your friends can! Anyone can! We accept all kinds of players of all skill levels. If you are interested in chess, you are welcome to come. Chess club offers a friendly and relaxed atmosphere to play and learn chess. If there is sufficient interest, we will hold training sessions for new players and we will also offer suggestions on chess on this site.
We are hoping to make many improvements to the chess club this semester. Here are some of the ideas:
