Why Join Kappa Kappa Psi?

A Sense of Belonging:

Membership in Kappa Kappa Psi gives the member a sense of belonging. With many students living away from home for the first time, life at school can be confusing and scary! Kappa Kappa Psi acts as a support system of brothers in the bond who will always be there for each other no matter what! Kappa Kappa Psi offers the member the best friends of their life!


Service to the University at Buffalo Bands:

Kappa Kappa Psi is all about band service! We help serve the marching band, pep band, symphonic band, jazz band, percussion ensemble and the flute ensemble. Service can be something as little as photocopying music or it can be as large as building uniform storage closets. There are many opportunities to help further these UB bands and we help in any way, shape or form possible!

Musical Involvement:

Kappa Kappa Psi encourages band participation by each member having to be in one band ensemble per semester. The ensembles include: marching band, pep band, symphonic band, percussion ensemble, jazz band and flute ensemble. The ensembles cater to a wide range of abilities and varied pieces. The colorguard and majorettes are able to join Kappa Kappa Psi as well! Nationally and district wide ensembles are open to Kappa Kappa Psi members by audition and provide a learning and networking opportunity by premiering new pieces and showcasing guest conductors.


Social:

An organization is supposed to be fun, right?! Kappa Kappa Psi has many social activities for members and non-members alike! We hold movie nights, bowling nights, laser-tron, and all band camp activities.

It’s an Honor to be Selected to Serve

National:

Kappa Kappa Psi is a national organization with chapters all over the country! The country is divided into districts, and the districts into precincts. Each year Kappa Eta travels to the North East District (NED) precincts and district convention. These meetings are held at host schools and ran by our district council and the host chapters. These meetings are relatively low in cost and offer the member learning opportunities, social connections and fun! No matter where you travel in the US, when you find a Kappa Kappa Psi member you will be accepted and welcomed!


Honorary:

Members are chosen for their outstanding band performance, musicianship and leadership, therefore it is an honor to be chosen for membership in Kappa Kappa Psi and is not a thing to be taken lightly! Remember it is an honor to be selected to serve!

Strive for the Highest

Leadership:

Kappa Kappa Psi looks for and creates leaders in the band! Our members have been drum majors, band officers, section leaders and colorguard captains! We can produce these band leaders by letting each member have a chance to be a leader within the chapter. In a Kappa Kappa Psi chapter every member counts. Every member has a job and a voice. Kappa Kappa Psi also provides a higher form of leadership by letting collegiate members lead the districts on the district council. And upon graduation a member can look into running for a national office. Kappa Kappa Psi prepares its members for a lifetime of leadership!


Lifetime:

Above all, Kappa Kappa Psi is for a lifetime. If a member chooses to do so they can become a life member of the fraternity at a one-time fee of $500. Lifetime members get special privileges that alumni don't. They get to have a voice at national conventions, a lifetime subscription to the national magazine "The Podium" and can hold district office for two years after they graduate to name a few. Even if the member does not choose to go Life he/she will have bonds with brothers that will last a lifetime.
