A Note on Layout:

Many of the texts published in Cartograffiti are designed for best display in browsers capable of utilizing cascading style sheets, according to the CSS1 specification issued by W3C. To date, Netscape Navigator 4 and Microsoft Internet Explorer 4 provide the best implementation of style sheets. If you are using one of these browsers, please check your preferences settings to make s ure style sheets are enabled. If you do not have access to a CSS1-enabled browser, you should be able to read Cartograffiti with only a few minor display inaccuracies: certain font settings will not be implemented, and variable margins in a few of the more spatially-active poems might be misplaced slightly. To minimize these problems, it should help to set your default display font to a 12pt. serif face. For those readers who are using a CSS1-enabled browser and are interested in the greatest degre e of typographical accuracy, the fonts defined for Cartograffiti are Futura or any sans-serif font (in that order of preference) for titles; Arial, Verdana, Helvetica, or any sans-serif font (in that order of preference) for sans-serif text; and Ja nson Text, Georgia, or any serif text (in that order of preference) for serif text. The Verdana and Georgia fonts are both available for free download at Microsoft's web typography site.
