- Transcriber available for on-campus use during business hours. Accepts standard
size cassette tapes. Arrangements can be made through SGSA for off-campus

- Nineteen-inch TV/VCR on a cart for transport to classrooms not equipped
with AV equipment. This is stored in the department supply closet. Sign up

Dissertation/Thesis Support
- All-But-Dissertation Survival Guide
- A newsletter that directs people to teleconferences and coaches related
to completing dissertations. Occassionally very useful.

- Association for Support of Graduate Students
- An organization that does pretty much what it says. Also host to the moderated
Doc-Talk mailing list about doing theses/dissertations.
- Dead Thesis Society
- A support group with a list-serv for people who are stalled out with their
thesis/dissertation because of a lack of motivation or frustration with making
little or no progress.

Application to Candidacy
- The Adobe Acrobat online application to candidacy. You need to fill one
of these out before you get started on your master's project/thesis or your
doctoral dissertation.
- PhinisheD
- A message board for people who are having trouble with their dissertations
or theses.

- The definitive guide to clear and concise writing. Available for free online
through Project Bartleby.
- Grammar Girl's Guide
to the English Language
- Grammar Girl guides you through some of the vagaries of the English language
in fine superheroine fashion.

- An alphabetized reference list of terms and rules. Don't know what a split

- Rules and issues to consider when writing. Cleverly organized by levels:

- AddALL Book Searching and Price Comparison
- A search engine that compares the prices of books across 32 or so on-line
booksellers to help you get the best possible price. Good for buying stats
or theory books, since these can get expensive!
- Best Book Buys
- Same basic idea as AddALL, but searches about 26 booksellers.
- Bookpool.com
- A super-cheap on-line bookstore for computer books. Also sells some manuals
for statistical software (primarily SAS). Excellent prices on web-desing and
programming titles.
- Free Application for
Federal Student Aid
- You can now fill out your FAFSA application online or you can obtain and
print out the forms from the U.S. Department of Education FAFSA web site.
Very convenient, especially for financial aid procrastinators. To fill out
the online version, you need to obtain an electronic access code -- this can
take a couple of weeks.
- Graduate Student Employees
Union
- The Buffalo branch of the formal negotiating and representative arm of the
graduate assistants and teaching assistants throughout the SUNY system.

- A brief, practical guide for making the best of your experience at a professional
conference.
