Special Friends - Tonawanda

Comprehensive Mental Health Services

Pass is a play activity program, with K-3rd graders who are "at-risk" of school failure due to learning problems, being shy-anxious and/or aggressive/acting out. You meet individually with up to 10 identified students for a total of 18-20 sessions over a period of one school year...

Time commitment: Typically 2 days per week for student contact, teacher conferences and parent conferences, plus 1/2 day per week (Friday am) for training and supervision.

Runs from early September to the first week in May, following the school calender. 450 total hours per year. At the discretion of the University, you might be able to receive credit (e.g., 6 credits per semester).

Open to Juniors and Seniors interested in helping professions.

Child Associate
Internship Program

Child Associates are typically assigned to work in one elementary school with 5-7 students. These meetings take place either individually or in small groups for one-half hour on a weekly basis from October through early May...
