Whereas:

The Department of Psychology recognizes the importance of avoiding the appearance and the reality of conflict of interest in the department’s student and faculty evaluation procedures.

Therefore, Be It Resolved:

That if there is a former or present romantic or marital relationship involving a student and a department faculty member, then that faculty member should not be present at or participate in consideration of the student at student admission, student evaluation, master’s committee, or dissertation committee meetings; and

That if there is a former or present romantic or marital relationship involving a candidate for hiring, tenure, or promotion and a department faculty member, then that faculty member should not be present at or participate in consideration of the candidate at search committee meetings, graduate program meetings, Personnel Committee meetings, Department Senate meetings, or tenured faculty meetings; and

That in both of these circumstances the faculty member may not vote in any department-wide balloting on student evaluation or faculty personnel cases.
