Summary of Research Interests:

Gayle Beck is interested in the interaction of physiological and psychological factors in the maintenance and treatment of emotional disorders. She has focused her research on anxiety, working with topics as diverse as adult anxiety disorders and sexual dysfunction. Currently, Dr. Beck runs a research clinic for individuals who are experiencing emotional difficulties in the aftermath of a serious trauma. Her work runs the gamut from experimental psychopathology to studies on the psychometric properties of specific assessment devices to treatment development and evaluation. As a Past-President of the Association of Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, it is not surprising that Dr. Beck’s clinical orientation is cognitive behavioral. She is a New York State licensed psychologist and has extensive clinical experience.
