A Note to Potential Students

It is an exciting time to be studying Cognitive Psychology! And it is an exciting time to do so at UB.

We have an excellent group of researchers and graduate students, with a wide variety of interests. Although we have a strong concentration of expertise in Language Perception, Computational Modeling and Foundations of Cognitive Science, these are finely balanced by strengths in traditional Cognition and Perception research.

More important, we have a great doctoral program in which students are collaborators and colleagues. Ideas are at the heart of our work and knowledge generation is the key. Join us in discovery, as we learn about the mysteries of the workings of minds and brains.

Enrolling in a program such as ours has benefits both for the present and the future. Our students tend to enjoy their time in the Cognitive area, in the Psychology Department, in the larger intellectual community and in the social, physical, and cultural milieu of Buffalo and Western New York.

We offer competitive graduate student stipends and have a successful record of placing our students in both academic and industrial settings. If you have any interest in joining an exciting and rewarding program in Cognitive Psychology, explore some of the information available about us, our colleagues, and our environment. Do not be shy - write to some of the current students and faculty to determine if this is the program for you.
