| Supplementary Information for Graduate Program Applicants
Graduate Record Examination test scores Request that official copies of your scores on the verbal, quantitative, and analytical portions of the GRE general test be sent to us. Be sure to use UB's complete institution code, R2925 (University at Buffalo). The department code for the Department of Psychology is 2016. GRE/ETS Application Fee This fee can be waived for New York State residents who are students in the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP), Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP), or SEEK, or residents of other states who are students in similar programs or students who are similarly economically disadvantaged). If you would like to have the fee waived, please submit a brief statement with your application indicating the reason, and provide documentation of your program status. Statement of Academic and Professional Goals This is one way for the admissions committee to understand you better and to determine whether your educational needs can be met by our graduate training program. Please describe your major areas of interest in psychology and any special experience or skills you have acquired. Depending on the program, we are particularly interested in your involvement in research or in volunteer work or employment in clinical agencies. You should indicate the research areas you might wish to work in, the kinds of graduate training you desire, and your professional goals. Any other information that you think might aid our decision should be included. Official Transcripts Arrange to have an official transcript bearing the seal of the institution sent to the address below for each college or university previously attended. Letters of Recommendation Letters of recommendation should be requested from three people who know your academic work or employment background. We suggest that you contact instructors or employers who know and will describe your unique qualities, especially relevant research experience and skills. We have no printed recommendation forms. Letters of recommendation should be sent by the author to the address below. ALL materials should be sent to Graduate Admissions, Department of Psychology, Park Hall Room 210, University at Buffalo--The State University of New York, Buffalo, NY 14260-4110. International Student Requirements There are additional admissions requirements for students who are not United States citizens. Students who are not United States citizens should make that clear on their application and should contact the UB International Student and Scholars Services Office for further information about TOEFL and visa requirements.
