Year Started Program:
Spring 2005
M.A. or Advanced Certificate: M.A.
Concentration: Financial Economics
Home Country: Canada

What were your educational/career goals when you applied for the M.A. in Economics?
My educational goals were to further develop my skills in the economics field, to get hands-on experience in applying economic theories and tools to my future financial career. I am hoping to start a career as a financial analyst or economics forecasting.

Why did you decide to pursue the M.A. degree at the University at Buffalo?
University at Buffalo is a very reputatable college in the USA, and the tuition cost is the most affordable across the USA (international students are also subsidized by the New York State Government).

How is your experience thus far? What did you enjoy most about the M.A. program?
My experience at UB has been a unique experience. There are many opportunities to meet with people: in classroom, off-campus, domestic and international students as well. What I enjoy most in the program is the the chances to have special events once in a while through the Semester.

What do you think is the program’s greatest strength? Is it meeting your expectations?
I think the strength of the program is the flexibility of the program structure, such as you can switch between M.A. to M.S. or add on an advanced certificate onto your degree. So far the program is meeting my expectations.

What types of jobs are you looking for?
I am currently seeking jobs as a financial analyst, consultant, forecaster, or project researcher.

Do you have a favorite place in Buffalo ?
Boulevard Mall, Wegman's (grocery shopping), Top's (grocery shopping) are my favorite places. Without a car, it is hard to get around in Buffalo.

What would you tell potential students looking at the UB M.A. Economics Program?
I would tell them that there's room here to learn and to socialize: a mix between both.

Is there an interesting fact about you that other people wouldn’t have known?
People here in Buffalo are in general very open-minded. I think that people think I am conservative to an extent, but I am very approachable and open-minded as well. Also, I think people know that I am a flexible person.

Do you have a favorite quote you would like to share?
"There is no shame in the game". I find this very humorous.

Is there anything else you would like to add?
Student's should keep in touch with their fellow classmates, and they help you along the way in the future!!!
