Research in special environments and exercise can be used as a tool to understand scientific and medical problems and also to provide useful information for the solution or evaluation of  practical problems.  This research and testing requires unique facilities to address problems in human factors, materials, and equipment.  Such facilities are not readily available or accessible.  The Center for Research and Education in Specialized Environments has, in one facility, the capability to utilize environments as an investigative tool and as a research focus. With its unique combination of expert scientists, simulation facilities, research equipment, experienced research staff, and skilled technical personnel, the Center can collaborate with companies, government agencies, trade and professional associations, and university researchers to conduct specialized, cost effective R&D.
