The Toxicology Research Center was established in 1985 as one of the original multidisciplinary Centers of Excellence at the University at Buffalo. The Center's mission is to facilitate multidisciplinary basic and applied research, to provide a wide range of educational programs, and to serve as a technical resource for the University, local industry and the community.

Research and Service initiative include:

  • Polychlorinated Biphenyl (PCB) Analysis - Congener Specific and Co-Planar Analysis at ppb Levels in Human Tissue and Blood Samples
  • Pesticide Residue Analysis - Crop, Soil and Water
  • P-450 Metabolism Studies
  • Metabolite Identification
  • Molecular toxicology assays and toxicogenomics
  • Bioassays for Dioxin-like compounds
  • Analytical Methods and Assay Development
  • Drug-receptor Interactions
  • Bioavailability of Chemicals from soil
  • Biodegradation studies and analysis
  • Antimicrobial Compositions
  • GPC Analysis - MW determination of Polymers
  • Organic/Radiochemical Synthesis
  • Materials/Physical Testing
  • Physiological Based Pharmacokinetic (PBPK) Modeling
  • Kinetic Modeling/Model Development
  • Dose Evaluation in Human Population Studies
  • Consultation and Online Database Searches
  • Evaluation Testing for Toxic Effects of Drugs and Chemicals

Occupational and Environmental Safety and Health Education Activities:

  • Member of the Atlantic OSHA Training Center an OSHA Sponsored Education Center
