Science and Technology Entry Program (STEP)
The SMBS also participates in a statewide initiative to increase the awareness and exposure of high school students who are members of groups that are historically underrepresented in scientific, technical, health related and licensed professions, or who are economically disadvantaged to the academic excellence necessary to pursue careers in medicine and other health related professions. With funding support from the New York State Science and Technology Entry Program (STEP), approximately 25 students in grades 7 through 12 attending Buffalo high schools participate in the SMBS High School Enrichment Program.
