Committees/Meetings
Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC)
The Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC) is charged with overseeing the quality of residency education and the resident work environment in UB-sponsored programs. Membership includes hospital, university, and resident leaders. Its work is accomplished through establishing and implementing policies and procedures, conducting "internal reviews" at the midpoint of accreditation cycles, and communicating with residency program directors and Dean Cain. The committee meets eight to ten times per year.
Program Directors Advisory Committee (PDAC)
Members of the Program Directors Advisory Committee review and comment on proposed GME policies and procedures; share best practices for teaching, evaluating, and assessing resident competence; and organize faculty development training. The PDAC chair is a voting member of the GMEC. The committee meets on alternate months throughout the year.
Program Coordinator Meetings
The Program Coordinator Group designs and delivers professional development activities for residency coordinators. Discussion of new accreditation standards, techniques for organizing a successful site visit, and using electronic tools are addressed at meetings, which occur twice annually. A resource guide outlining procedures and useful references was compiled by the group. A representative is an ex-officio member of the GMEC.
