Setting up a Computer for UBlearns
Connect to the Internet
To use Blackboard on UBlearns.buffalo.edu, you must use a computer that is able to connect to the Internet and use a Web browser.
Use a supported browser
It’s recommended that you use up to date Web browsers. UB supported software recommendations are available on the UB Tech Tools software download site or the CD available from UBMicro.
Blackboard technical support offers a list of certified and compatible browsers, listed by system OS, for use with Blackboard.
Have the required software/plug-ins
Any type of document can be hosted on UBlearns. To view them you need to have appropriate software.
Special plug-ins or players may be needed to view files such as: PDF, sound, video and multimedia file formats (e.g., QuickTime, Windows Media, Flash, ToolBook). These plug-ins and players are available on the UB Tech Tools software download site or the CD available from UBMicro .
Enable Java / disable popup blockers
In order to use all features of UBlearns, Java must be enabled and pop-up blockers need to be disabled on your Web browser. Check your browser’s help to determine how to do this. If you need basic information about setting up your computer or computer specifications go to UBIT Information Technology Orientation.
