 I see a paper and pencil icon in the Grade Center. What does this mean?

This could be caused by one of the following:

• A student has not yet completed the test or assignment; work is in progress.
• A test has been set up for a single attempt and a student opened the test but did not make an attempt at answering any questions.
• A student hit the Save button instead of the Submit button after taking the test or assignment. Tell the student to Submit the test or assignment.
• Student experienced network or browser problems while taking the test or assignment.

Contact the student to determine the reason the pencil and paper icon is showing. If necessary, you can reset the test or assignment by clicking on the pencil and paper icon and choose Clear Attempt. Do not do this unless you are certain that the student is not in the process of taking the test, because clicking Clear Attempt will delete all of their work.
