Adding an Item
Items are pieces of content added to a course. Documents may be attached to Items. Items may be added to any content area, such as Course Documents or Course Information.
Add an Item
- Select Control Panel, then Course Documents.
- Click on the Item icon from the menu bar.
- Enter the Item Name in the Name field.
- To attach a file, select Browse next to Attach Local File. Select the file on your local system, or from a networked drive, and add it by clicking Open.
- Complete the Name of Link to File field. This is the name that appears to users. Select this link to open the attached file.
- Complete the options in Section 3, then click Submit.
Tips
- Instructors can use the Edit View link (located in the top right corner) to make changes to content from within the course view, instead of navigating through the Control Panel to edit content.
- Leaving the Name of Link field in step 4 blank will display the name of the computer file. If the file is named intuitively, the file extension (i.e., .doc or .pdf) will be displayed. The user is provided with information about the file type they will be opening.
- It is recommended to keep a local copy of all documents saved in UBlearns.
