Export/Archive/Import a Course
You are responsible for backing up your UBlearns courses. Courses will be removed from the UBlearns site 12 months after the end of the semester for which the course was activated. See the UBlearns Data Management Policy for more information.
Export and Archive are two ways to back up your course. You would back up your course for archival purposes, for use at another time, or to use on another Blackboard course management system.
Export / Archive Manager
The Export / Archive Manager organizes all export and archive packages that are created from the course. When the course is exported or archived, a link to the package appears on the Export / Archive Manager page.
- To view .zip packages in the Export / Archive Manager, log into your course site and select the Control Panel > Export Course (Under Course Options).
Export Course
The Export Course feature is one way to back up your course. Export Course creates a .zip file package that can be imported.
It is important to note that Export Course does NOT save any user interactions (e.g., grades, discussion board postings, assignment submissions). Course materials are the only items exported. Exporting a course does not remove it from the system.
Archive Course
The Archive Course feature is one way to back up your course. Archive Course creates a .zip file package that can be imported.
Archive Course creates a permanent record of an entire course including all the content and user interactions (e.g., grades, discussion board postings, assignment submissions). Archiving a course does not remove it from the system.
Import Package
Import Package is the process of uploading a previously saved .zip file either from an Exported or Archived course. You can use a zipped package from another UBlearns course or another Blackboard course management system.
