Using Discussion Boards
Course participants can post and respond to messages using the Discussion Board feature.
- Forums are used to organize discussions. A forum must be created before course participants
can post and respond to messages using the Discussion Board feature.
Students are unable to create forums.
- Threads are discussions within forums. A new post starts a thread. All responses appear in the same thread.
Adding a forum
- Click on Discussion Board in the menu on the left.
- Select Add Forum
- Enter a title and description for the forum.
- Complete the Forum Settings.
Note: You can also add a discussion forum within a folder or content area by using the Select menu in the Action Bar.

Posting a message
- Select Discussion Board from the menu.
- Click on a forum link to open it.
- Select Add New Thread.
- Enter a subject, and your message.
- Select Submit, then click OK.
Replying to a message
- Select Discussion Board from the menu.
- Click on a forum link to open it.
- Select the message to which you want to reply.
- Click Reply.
- Enter your message then select Submit.
