Providing Printable Versions of Slide Presentations
It is recommended that slide presentations be saved in a print-friendly format (multiple slides per page).
If a fully functioning presentation file is desired (including high quality images and/or animation), provide students with instructions on printing in handout format.
Convert PowerPoint to PDF handouts
Print-friendly versions of slide presentations can be created using free PDF conversion software. A selection of recommended PDF conversion tools are listed on the TLC website.
After you've installed one of the PDF converters follow these steps to create PDF handouts:
- Click the File menu or Microsoft Office Button
> Print. - From the Printer Name drop down list, select the PDF converter you have just installed.
- Under Print What, select:
- Handouts
- Either 3 or 6 slides per page
- Grayscale (if desired)
- Click OK
- Name the file and click OK.
- This PDF file can then be uploaded to UBlearns.
Note: PDF conversion is built into Macintosh computers, no additional downloads are necessary. After selecting Print you will see a PDF button in the bottom left corner of the Print Window.
