REQUESTING AUDITS

WHY MIGHT I REQUEST AUDIT SERVICES?

An audit is an opportunity to receive an independent appraisal of the effectiveness and efficiency of your unit's administrative activities. It can help you resolve any concern you may have regarding the activities within your operation. It can also provide you with assurance that your administrative procedures are adequate and functioning as you expect.

Timing of a request may be an important factor in the type of help you are seeking. If you have recently assumed new or additional supervisory responsibilities or if your operations have been significantly modified, you may want assurance of the adequacy of your administrative procedures. If you have concerns about any problems within your administrative area, a review could help resolve those concerns. However, if you are just developing a process and the procedures that govern the administration of that process, you may seek our help in reviewing the adequacy of the operation before things are finalized. This review would make any changes to the process easier than they may be after they are finalized.

Requests for audits should be submitted to the Director of Internal Audit. These requests could be in writing or verbal. All requests will remain confidential and will be considered based on their impact on the University and the availability of staff and time.
