Welcome to the EH&S Radiation Safety Home Page. Our primary goal is to provide a radiation protection program that is in accordance with the rules, regulations, licenses and permits issued by the New York State Department of Health, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission for the safe use of radioactive materials and radiation producing equipment at the University at Buffalo. We continue to modify the radiation safety program to meet the changing needs of the University community while complying with appropriate rules and regulations.

Some of the services provided are:

• Radiation safety inspections of radioactive materials laboratories and radiation producing equipment
• Leak testing of sealed sources
• Training workers that use radioactive material or radiation producing equipment
• Calibration of portable radiation survey instruments
• External and internal personnel dosimetry
• Radioactive waste disposal
