2007 Fall Semester fund raisers will announce soon......
More Concession Stands (March 30th)
Same deal as last time. We need about 10 people to work the cash registers and make the food. We had a good time at the last one, and I'm sure this will be no different. If interested get back to John as soon as possible as places are sure to fill up fast.
Basketball Concessions (Feb. 9th)
Our club will be manning the concession stands for the women's basketball game on Sunday, Feb. 9th from 2:30 to 6:30. We need at least 12 people to volunteer. This will get your fundraiser credit taken care of at the start of the semester, so just get it out of the way before testing.
Event Concession Stands
We need volunteers to man concession stands during UB sporting events. The open time slots are:
If you are interested in any of these events, please email me at gadget1@earthlink.net as soon as possible. If we cannot fill up the entire worker quota we can split the job with other clubs. This is first-come first-serve, so the quicker you get back to me the more likely you will be to get a spot.
Haunted Union (Oct.29-31)
The Haunted Union is quickly becoming a UB tradition. Clubs participate to help out with such events as pumpkin carving, scary movie showings, and a full-fledged haunted house. We need volunteers to help out at the following:
Tuesday: Window Painting (all day) - help decorate the union with style!
Set up and decorating (10 -5) - Lend a hand by setting up some spooky decorations
Wednesday: Lobby Activities (10 -5) - Our club can man a booth for pumpkin carving, cookie decorating, or games
Stalkers (12 - 4) - dress up in costume and walk the campus to get people to come to the student union
Thursday: Set up and decorating (9 - 12) - Last minute finishing touches for the big day
Vampires (9 - 4) - Dress up like a vampire to attract people to a blood drive
Lobby Activities ( 10 - 3) - Same as above
Trick or Treat/Decorating Contest (11:30 - 3:30) - pass out supplies for trick or treating and ballots for the decorating contest
Stalkers (12 - 3) - Same as above
Again, this is an easy way to get your community service credit out of the way and have fun at the same time. We will take on responsibility of an event as a club, meaning we would only need specific members to be at the programs in shifts. This is a good way to kill time between classes. If you are interested, please email me at gadget1@earthlink.net with your available times.
Spirit Week (Oct. 14-18)
Spirit week is October 14th to October 18th. It is designed to rouse school spirit for homecoming. All SA clubs are welcome to participate and there is a competition for the club with the most spirit. Our club gets a point for every member that attends each of the events below:
Monday: Window Painting Contest (10-4)
Clubs Fair (10-4)
Tuesday: Car Smasher (10-3)
Gladiator Joust Tournament (10-4)
Wednesday: Wing Eating Contest (12)
Rock Climbing Race (10-3)
Chalk Walk(11-2)
Thursday: Banner Making Contest (all Day)
Friday: Godzilla Glove Boxing (1-3)
Homecoming Carnival (5-???)
Take a look at the above events and decide which ones you would be interested in participating in. Only one member can represent each club in the wing eating contest, so that is first come first served. Any member who participates in at least TWO of the above events will receive their fundraiser/Service credit for this semester. The carnival on Friday is easy points for us; all you have to do is show up and sign in as a member of the taekwondo club, then you can leave. Please also note the time of each event, indicated to the right. Do not sign up for events if you will be busy at that time. You can participate in as many events as you like, so feel free to do as much as you want. You must sign up through the club in order to receive your service credit. If you have any questions about the events please email me at gadget1@earthlink.net.
remember, in order to test or go to the tournament you MUST participate in a community service or fundraiser. This club is generously funded by SA, so giving a little bit back to the university is not too much to ask.
