Alpha Kappa Delta
International Sociology Honor Society
Zeta Chapter of New York
Brief History
Alpha Kappa Delta began in the Fall of 1920 at the University of Southern California. Dr. Emory S. Bogardus, Chair of the sociology department, proposed to graduate students the formation of a society where they might discuss their research and where they might meet informally with faculty for intellectual exchange. On November 21, 1920, a group of 14 faculty and graduate students organized the first chapter of Alpha Kappa Delta.
