History

 Do you know?

Seido Karate at the University at Buffalo was founded by (now) Sei Shihan Christopher Caile in 1983.  He was the head instructor for the Seido Karate Club from 1983 to 1998.  Over those years he trained hundreds of students and gave seminars on self-defense to persons of the University and the Buffalo area.  Sei Shihan Chris continues to study Seido Karate at our Honbu dojo in New York City. He has created a martial arts forum, FightingArts.com, which allows people of all martial arts a place to discuss and share ideas.

With Sei Shihan’s departure from Buffalo one of his earliest students (now) Sensei Jeff Evenson became the head instructor of the Club.  Sensei Jeff started his training in Seido Karate under Sei Shihan Chris in 1984 when Sensei Jeff was a student at UB.  Sensei Jeff led the club as head instructor from 1998 – 2005 and during that time he trained many students, and created several self-defense demonstrations for University students.  Sensei continues to follow Kaicho Nakamura and Seido Karate from his new home in Mississippi.

In mid-2005, Senpai Peter Macaluso became the head instructor.  Senpai Peter started his training under Sei Shihan Chris in 1988 when Senpai was a student at UB.  When Sei Shihan Chris departed from Buffalo, Peter continued his study under Sensei Jeff until Sensei’s departure in 2005.
