| It's come; it's time to ask your professors for the much needed, much
anxiety-provoking recommendation letter. It's much easier than you might
imagine.
There are two important suggestions for your recommendation letters. First, set up a credential file at Career Services. This costs 5$, but will make the process much easier for you and is well worth the cost. After establishing a file, the Credential Office will collect your recommendation letters and send them out as you need. The office is located at 259 Capen Hall. www.ub-careers.buffalo.edu/career/ The second suggestion is to become acquainted with your professor (see section on Approaching your Professor for advice). Discuss with your professor your future plans and interests. Explain you are interested in acquiring a recommendation letter for graduate school or employment services and that you are hoping they would be able to help. Be sure you ask the professor for their feedback. If they agree, once your plans are firmly established, bring them your resume and information concerning your graduate program or employment endeavor. You should also provide them with a stamped envelope. Afterwards, thank the professor with a card or thank you letter. |
