As an undergraduate psychology student at UB, there are many opportunities
available for you. In the words of one of our professors, "UB is like
Club-Med". All students pay the same tuition, and this (in part) makes
available the tremendous amount of resources at this research university.
Some students take advantage of these opportunities, and find there is
more on their plate than they can eat. The remaining students, like at
Club-Med, sit on the beach and tan. In effect, they subsidize the
students who take advantage of the opportunities here.
Specific to the Psychology Department, there are opportunities
involving
research, counseling, and leadership. This is a brief list to give you
some ideas:
- Independent Study with any of the faculty
- Research Assistantship at any psychology department laboratory
- Children's Hospital Internship
- Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Program Internships
- Student organizations (Psi Chi, UPA)
- Honors Program or Undergraduate Research Convocation
If you want to become involved in one of these or something similar, your
first stop should be to visit you advisor. Or, you can contact any of the
Psi Chi or UPA officers, who hold regular office hours and are generally
informed or involved with many of the above.
