Zoar Valley

15 of us went down to Zoar Valley; a nice drive hour south of Buffalo. Zoar Valley is a little known park containing numerous waterfalls, an old growth forest, creeks and deep gorges. Despite some trouble finding the park due to bad directions and detours, we finally found the parking lot and had some lunch. In the parking lot we enjoyed some lunch and the company of 3 friendly wiener dogs walking around the parking lot from a nearby house. We then hiked the various trails admiring the various types of trees and the rolling hills. On the main trail Mike found a thick vine hanging on the side of the path, so naturally we tried to use it to swing across the path. Later on, the main group of us got turned around but some got a great view on top of one of the gorges. Some of the group, led by a frequent Zoar Valley explorer went down the road and found another entrance to the valley. From there they walked the riverbed 2 miles to a waterfall with a pool deep enough to dive in. Some time later and one person soaked, we headed back to Buffalo.
