Toronto 2009After a year long absence, 20 OACers headed to Canada this January for a weekend of climbing and enjoying beautiful downtown Toronto. The first destination was the Global Village Backpackers' Hostel . It's always a nice place to stay, and with a super friendly staff and good group rates, it was a no-brainer. And so close to the CN Tower too! Friday's dinner consisted of the usual OAC fare, pasta with red sauce and bread (good cooks are still being recruited for next year), after which everyone headed out for a night on the town. The real reason for the trip, of course, was the spectacular indoor climbing at Rock Oasis that would happen on Saturday morning. New climbers were given lessons by trained staff, while experienced climbers needed only to pass a belay test before hitting the walls. Everyone had a blast for a few hours and that 60 foot wall made everybody good and sore for the trip back. Once again, Toronto shows the OAC a great time. See you again next year O Neighbor of the North
