4 OACers, one compass, and many control points

A small group of four adventurers set out into the woods of Mendon Ponds Park, just a map and compass to guide them, traipsed about for about half an hour, found a small fiberglass post, and then they celebrated.

Orienteering is about navigating using only a map and compass to find different points, or “controls,” as fast as possible. Often competitions are organized, and the competitor with the fastest time through all of the controls wins. On this day, the orienteers were simply going for fun. After the initial difficulty, the rest of the controls were found with relative ease, and everyone had a great time.

Map? I didn't know we had to use maps!.

Got one!

Not a bad day to be in the woods.
