Downhill Skiing and Holiday Valley

On February 9th, the Outdoor Adventure Club hit the slopes of Holiday Valley for a day of skiing and snowboarding. After a club-provided lunch, everyone was given 8-hour lift tickets and set free to roam the mountain. The conditions were a bit slushy at first, but some of the more difficult runs were covered in powder that only got better by the evening. Some of the more advanced skiers hit the moguls and the black diamonds, while others sought leisurely riding on the intermediate and beginner runs. Two members went snowboarding for the first time with the club! They learned the basics of their equipment and riding the lift from Jonathan, the VP, then moved on to learn fundamental boarding skills from a pro instructor. As the day went on, more and more of the OACers were riding together in groups and learning each other's names. Once everyone was exhausted, we went inside to warm up with dinner. Of course, the day wouldn't have been complete for the boarders without a trip to the terrain park (jumps, rails, and half-pipe), so that was on the after-dinner agenda. After some high jumps and a few spills (who knew rails were so hard?) it was time to head back. All in all a killer OAC trip.
