Adirondack High Peaks

On this trip the club encountered three of the Adirondack High Peaks and got some volunteer work done. All forms of weather were seen including snow, ice, rain, and sun. The group's climb started at the Adriondack Loj on Heart Rd just South West of Lake Placid and hiked in a mile and a half the first night. The second day we climbed up the Macintyre range. The top of Wright Peak was icy, the top of Algonquin Peak (second heighest at 5114') was windy, and the hike to Iroquois Peak was very muddy. After leaving our rocks at the top of the GONK we hiked down, ate dinner, and made it to basecamp just before dark. The next morning we hiked back to our cars through some pretty decent rain. By the end of the trip everyone was a little sore, but happy. The rocks were needed at the top of the mountain to help preserve the rare alpine wildlife.
